By A F Mignet. Published by H L Hunt and C C Clarke, London 1826. Scarce single-volume edition of Mignet's work. 489 pages. Brown marbled boards with brown leather corners and spine. Bright gilt banding and title on spine. Frontispiece is a portrait of Madame Roland, there is also a portrait of La Fayette (lightly foxed) at the beginning of chapter 1. The original fold-out diagram is present and in good condition (just a small tear and crease to one corner). The corners and spine ends are a little bumped, and there are a few rubbed areas to the boards. The front endpaper has a couple of small inscriptions, along with two areas where a label has been removed and a little of it remains. There is distinct foxing to the first four pages, and a little to the last couple of pages, otherwise the text is very clean. A piece (vertical strip) has been lost from the top corner of two pages, but the text is scarcely affected. The stamp of Marx Memorial Library (London) appears on a couple of pages, also the library's 'disposal' stamp.
